Myeik is a charming coastal city by the Arabian Sea, located in the heart of southern Myanmar. Owing to its strategic location between China and the Middle East, Myeik has enjoyed the position of a prominent international port, offering safe harbor to many an illegal vessel in the past. Today, the contraband may be gone, but the town’s lively spirit remains. Understandably, the city is home to myriad ethnic groups, ranging from the Chinese to the Siamese and the Malay. A proud home to beautiful buildings and architecture from the colonial era, the city still bustles with traders, as well as a plethora of ships and boats. The real charm of Myeik however, lies in its exquisite virgin beaches, inhabited only by a profusion of wildlife.
