San Cristobal island is the easternmost and geologically oldest of the Galapagos archipelago. The island is also famous for being the first place where young naturalist Charles Darwin stepped onto the Galapagos during his history-changing voyage. The island features a plethora of fauna such as frigate birds, boobies, marine iguanas, dolphins, sea lions and varied marine wildlife. Visitors can take advantage of the island’s proximity to the famous ‘Kicker Rock’ which is a stunning volcanic formation and well-known Scuba diving site, home to hammerhead and white-tipped sharks. The capital of the archipelago, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, lies at the south-western tip of the island and is the location of most hotels and restaurants
