Isolated by the waters of magnificent Lake Titicaca, the Taquile and Amanti Islands have remained generally untouched by ‘western’ influences and remain home to a small community of indigenous origin. Explore the islands and admire the immense skill of the artisans and their hand-woven textiles on Taquile or the agricultural ingenuity of Amanti where the hillsides are still worked by hand to produce the islander’s food. By staying overnight in a local home, this truly unique facet of Perú can be experienced first hand.

 Things to do

P-Taqui 2D (part 1/2) Taquile/Amantani w/overnight night in Taquile

In the morning set out from Puno into Lake Titicaca. First visit the floating Uros Islands, man-made reed islands made by the Uros people who first fled from the Incans and then from the Spaniards, seeking refuge and a new home in the middle of the lake. In the afternoon continue on your journey of Lake Titicaca visiting either the island of Taquile or Amantani. These islands offer stunning views of the lake and are inhabited by a small, isolated indigenous group who offer a warm welcome into their simple homes. Spend the night in a traditional home on one of the islands. (07:00 to 15:00. Private Activity. Lunch and Dinner Included.)
