The best time to visit Myanmar?

What is the best time to visit Myanmar? Our destination experts share an overview on when to visit the various regions of Myanmar.

Myanmar is truly like a place frozen in time! Cruise along the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River, go hot air ballooning over the ancient plains of Bagan, go in search of the elusive tiger on elephant back, or enjoy mountain trekking and rafting, and when in the mood for some adrenalin rush, indulge in some world class diving in the Mergui Archipelago.

The ideal time for traveling throughout Myanmar is winter, from mid-October to mid-February, with an average temperature of 20-24°C. Some regions in upper Myanmar have a temperature ranging between 5–10°C. The rainy season (monsoon) is from mid-May to mid-October with an average temperature of 25-30° C. Although it rains heavily in Yangon and Inle Lake, traveling in Myanmar during this season is still enjoyable because Mandalay and Bagan lies in rather dry zone where it rarely rains. The hot season (summer) is from mid-February to mid-May, with an average temperature of 30-35°C.
