Also locally known as Cidade Rosa (the Pink City) due to the bloom of its Ipê trees, Poconé is the main gateway into the Northern Pantanal. It’s the launching point for the Transpantaneira, a 150km stretch of dirt road linking Poconé to Porto Jofre – a journey along which provides some of the best opportunities to view wildlife. The region is serviced by an established network of tourist lodges and fazendas.
