Hanoi has served as an erstwhile capital city and the seat of government for over a thousand years. Explore exotic ancient monuments and remnants of colonial imperialism as well as affable merchants at Hanoi’s night markets and at bustling street food stalls.

Temple and City Discovery in Hanoi
Explore the heritage of Vietnam’s capital by the Red River delta, on a leisurely cyclos ride through the city. Learn about the nation’s beloved revolutionary leader, Ho Chi Minh and visit the simple little house where he lived during his years in Hanoi. Explore the historic building that showcases the great leader’s personal artifacts and items of everyday use. Stop by a small island on Hanoi’s West Lake to see the sixth century Tran Quoc Pagoda, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple. Ride over to visit the resplendent 11th-century Taoist temple, Quan Thanh, which stands in the shade of a giant banyan tree. An old shrine nearby houses a beautiful statue of Tran Vu, a principal Tao deity. Later in the afternoon, visit Vietnam’s first national university, the 11th century Temple of Literature that is known for its traditional Vietnamese architecture. Get an insight into Vietnam’s colonial and modern history at the ‘Hanoi Hilton’ or Hoa Lo Prison, where the French incarcerated Vietnamese political prisoners. Visit the remnants of the old complex and walk through the moving display of photographs and writings. Halong Bay in the Gulf of Tonkins is a dazzling world. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, you can witness the dense cluster of over 3,000 limestone islands as they rise spectacularly from the ocean. Geologically an extension, Lan Ha Bay is just as beautiful as Halong Bay but a lot more isolated.

Enjoy a marvellous one night cruise aboard the Dragon Pearl! From your hotel you will be taken to the harbor where you can check-in, meet your crew and receive a safety briefing. The you can set sail to the magnificent Bai Tu Long Bay and Cap La, where the astonishing formations of Halong Bay await you. Enjoy a delicious lunch en route. If you wish, you can disembark and visit the local fishing village or go kayaking. Back on board, relax and unwind or have a swim before dinner. The following day you can cruise through an incredible panorama of grottos and explore Thien Canh Son cave. Enjoy a swim and another delicious lunch aboard the junk before a smooth cruise back to the harbor at Hanoi. Halong Bay Cruise Activities on the Jasmine Cruise
Explore picturesque Halong Bay and its many attractions on this leisurely cruise. Day 1: Get settled in your comfortable accommodations aboard the cruise boat and discover the onboard facilities as you sail out to scenic Halong Bay. Step onto the sun deck and soak in the splendid views as you cruise to the floating village of Cua Van, one of the last few in the region. Choose to kayak to this interesting village or glide along in a bamboo boat rowed by the locals. Stop by the Cua Van Cultural Center for a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the village before heading out to Tien Ong Cave. Follow your expert guide into the deep cave which has evidence of human civilization dating back as far as 10,000 BC! Return to the cruise boat and sail on as you unwind on the sun deck with your favorite drink enjoying the sunset over the bay. Watch a demonstration of Vietnamese cooking by the chef and join in if you’d like. After a delicious dinner, watch an insightful presentation about the bay’s unique features or try your hand at squid fishing before you get a good night’s rest. Day 2: Wake up refreshed and sip on tea or coffee as you nibble on pastries before practicing Tai Chi on the deck under the guidance of an expert. Afterward, step ashore at Ti Top Island to swim in the cool water and lounge on the sandy beach tucked amid soaring rock formations. You could also climb up 400 stone steps to the highest point on the island and enjoy panoramic views of the bay. Return to the cruise boat and savor breakfast as you sail back to the harbor, continuing to enjoy scenic views of this iconic landmark along the way. Set off after breakfast to visit Hué’s iconic, 17th century monument of Thien Mu Pagoda, whose narrow, seven-storied structure stands atop a hill by the Perfume River. Afterwards, you could either explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hué Monuments centered on the Imperial Citadel, or the royal tomb of Emperor Minh Mang. At the Imperial Citadel, be dazzled by the regal architecture and royal gardens. Set amid a forested area, the Royal Tomb is equally spectacular. In the afternoon, drive down to the charming little village of Duong No, which was home to the young Ho Chi Minh. The best way to explore Saigon is by foot, as you wander along and witness quaint yet sure French colonial buildings on Dong Khoi Street, also known as Rue Catinat. Witness many other historic landmarks, including the Opera House, the former Hotel de Ville (Town Hall) and the spectacular Presidential Palace. Visit the central Post Office, not to send your postcards home but to witness a magnificent feat of architecture. Want to make a wish? Visit Thien Hau Temple in District 5, where it is the local custom to attach your dreams to an incense coil. Kindly note that it is not possible to visit inside the Notre Dame during church services. Can Tho, or nine dragons as it literally translates, is the largest town in the Mekong Delta. Can Tho buzzes with life, and the colorful burst of large floating markets and riverside hamlets with sculpted gardens are a unique sight to witness.

Embark on a half day motorboat trip to Cai Rung, the most renowned and biggest floating market in Can Tho, where you can witness boats laden with fruits and vegetables and freshly caught fish. The way the busy market sellers advertise their goods in their own time-tested manner, shouting across the waters and tying their goods on tall poles that rise out of their boats and can be seen on the horizon. After this exuberant visit, head to Can Tho Museum, that holds over 5,000 Mekong relics, and venture into the countryside where you can see how ethnic Vietnamese, Chinese and Khmer live together. Finish your tour with a drive to Binh Thuy Ancient House, a feat of French influenced architecture that houses many valuable antiques. So as not to miss the market in full swing, we recommend you start this activity in the early morning.
