Guided Walking Safari with Mobile Bush Camps Head out on adventurous walking safaris traversing the magnificent Laikipia Plateau. This is the most exciting way to explore the vast landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. Explore the remote wilderness looking out for various wildlife species and ejoy a rich cultural experience as you walk and interact with the local Samburu warriors. Walks start in the cool mornings and take 4-5 hours of around 8-15km, depending on your fitness and the terrain, and allowing for rest stops and pauses to watch wildlife. As you are walking, the wildlife tends to be more skittish than if you were in a vehicle, but you are likely to see, at a distance, elephant, reticulated giraffe, various species of antelope and plains game as well as some of the endangered species, such as Grevy’s zebra and wild dog. You will carry a day pack, but your main luggage is carried by the camels. After breaking camp each day, the crew go ahead to set up the next overnight camp. You will usually stop there at lunch time, leaving the afternoon free for a wonderful siesta, reading, pottering around the camp. Later in the afternoon, you will explore the area around the camp and enjoy a sundowner at a beautiful spot. Thereafter, relax around the campfire under the incredible starry skies with your favorite drink, listen to the evocative night sounds and forget about the world.
