Hanoi has served as an erstwhile capital city and the seat of government for over a thousand years. Explore exotic ancient monuments and remnants of colonial imperialism as well as affable merchants at Hanoi’s night markets and at bustling street food stalls.

Explore the heritage of Vietnam’s capital by the Red River delta, on a leisurely cyclos ride through the city. Learn about the nation’s beloved revolutionary leader, Ho Chi Minh and visit the simple little house where he lived during his years in Hanoi. Explore the historic building that showcases the great leader’s personal artifacts and items of everyday use. Stop by a small island on Hanoi’s West Lake to see the sixth century Tran Quoc Pagoda, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple. Ride over to visit the resplendent 11th-century Taoist temple, Quan Thanh, which stands in the shade of a giant banyan tree. An old shrine nearby houses a beautiful statue of Tran Vu, a principal Tao deity. Later in the afternoon, visit Vietnam’s first national university, the 11th century Temple of Literature that is known for its traditional Vietnamese architecture. Get an insight into Vietnam’s colonial and modern history at the ‘Hanoi Hilton’ or Hoa Lo Prison, where the French incarcerated Vietnamese political prisoners. Visit the remnants of the old complex and walk through the moving display of photographs and writings. Ceramic Ware Village Tour (Half Day)
Explore an ancient center of ceramic ware! Kim Lan Village near Hanoi has been lauded by archaeologists as a center of ceramic ware since the 13th to 14th centuries. Skilled artisans deftly turn the locally available clay into a beautiful products that are sold across the country. Begin your tour with a 15 minute boat ride to reach Kim Lan Village. At the peaceful village, meet a local researcher who will take you through the small ceramic museum. Meet and greet some local families and witness the traditional methods of creating ceramic wares. Learn more about the daily life in the village from the the friendly craftsmen as they go about their work. Stroll through the rest of the village which is surrounded by green vegetable gardens and enjoy the scenic countryside. Afterwards, cruise back to the comfort of your hotel in Hanoi.

Halong Bay in the Gulf of Tonkins is a dazzling world. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, you can witness the dense cluster of over 3,000 limestone islands as they rise spectacularly from the ocean. Geologically an extension, Lan Ha Bay is just as beautiful as Halong Bay but a lot more isolated.

Explore picturesque Halong Bay and its many attractions on this leisurely cruise. Day 1: Get settled in your comfortable accommodations aboard the cruise boat and discover the onboard facilities as you sail out to scenic Halong Bay. Step onto the sun deck and soak in the splendid views as you cruise to the floating village of Cua Van, one of the last few in the region. Choose to kayak to this interesting village or glide along in a bamboo boat rowed by the locals. Stop by the Cua Van Cultural Center for a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the village before heading out to Tien Ong Cave. Follow your expert guide into the deep cave which has evidence of human civilization dating back as far as 10,000 BC! Return to the cruise boat and sail on as you unwind on the sun deck with your favorite drink enjoying the sunset over the bay. Watch a demonstration of Vietnamese cooking by the chef and join in if you’d like. After a delicious dinner, watch an insightful presentation about the bay’s unique features or try your hand at squid fishing before you get a good night’s rest. Day 2: Wake up refreshed and sip on tea or coffee as you nibble on pastries before practicing Tai Chi on the deck under the guidance of an expert. Afterward, step ashore at Ti Top Island to swim in the cool water and lounge on the sandy beach tucked amid soaring rock formations. You could also climb up 400 stone steps to the highest point on the island and enjoy panoramic views of the bay. Return to the cruise boat and savor breakfast as you sail back to the harbor, continuing to enjoy scenic views of this iconic landmark along the way. Activities Aboard Stellar Cruise, Halong Bay: One Night and Two Days
Day One – Embark on the Stellar Cruise at Tuan Chau marina. Sip on welcome drinks and set sail soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Freshen up in your cozy cabins, and relish a leisurely lunch with stunning views of the dramatic limestone islands. Set out to explore the expansive and beautiful Surprising Cave and afterwards, you can swim and snorkel around the Titop island. After a nap onboard, gather on the top deck for a sociable sunset party. A lavish Vietnamese dinner later, retire for the night in your plush beds. Alternately, you can join the crew to fish for squids at night.
Day Two – Rise and shine with Tai Chi classes on the sundeck. After a wholesome local breakfast, sail past numerous islets before anchoring at Luon Cave. Explore the island kayaking or take the guided bamboo boats. Lunch is served after a cooking demonstration of spring rolls. Recount your experience returning to shore and bid farewell! Much of what once existed no longer stands, aside from a few temples, such as Lê Đại Hành and 17the century Đinh Tiên Hoàng Temple and are well worth exploring. Take a drive to Van Long, an eco tourism area where you can enjoy a two hour boat trip as you are rowed along Van Long River. As the oars are swished, you can hear children’s laughter from distant villages and witness the stunning scenery of local villages dotted among the limestone karsts and caves. Immerse yourself in Vietnam’s rich imperial heritage on this tour of historic Hué. The town is dotted with ancient pagodas, royal tombs, and the remains of an imperial stronghold. Set off after breakfast to visit Hué’s iconic, 17th century monument of Thien Mu Pagoda, whose narrow, seven-storied structure stands atop a hill by the Perfume River. Afterwards, you could either explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hué Monuments centered on the Imperial Citadel, or the royal tomb of Emperor Minh Mang. At the Imperial Citadel, be dazzled by the regal architecture and royal gardens. Set amid a forested area, the Royal Tomb is equally spectacular. In the afternoon, drive down to the charming little village of Duong No, which was home to the young Ho Chi Minh. From your host family you will learn about the village history and customs as enjoy a hands-on experience in the garden learning their traditional methods. Head to Cam Thanh and pass through paddy fields, idyllic canals and shrimp raising ponds. Learn how to make traditional rice paper at the village, which you can then grilled over a charcoal fire and eaten as a crunchy snack. After this exuberant visit, head to Can Tho Museum, that holds over 5,000 Mekong relics, and venture into the countryside where you can see how ethnic Vietnamese, Chinese and Khmer live together. Finish your tour with a drive to Binh Thuy Ancient House, a feat of French influenced architecture that houses many valuable antiques.
