in Singapore

It may be small but don’t be fooled – there is a wealth of things to do in Singapore. To narrow it down, here are the quintessential must see top 10 things to do in Singapore to ticket off your bucket list.

1. Marina Bay

Singapore’s famed Marina Bay is the place to go to see the city’s most spectacular side. The Bay is located around the towering landmark Sand’s hotel and resort. The whole Marina Bay area has undergone a transformation of epic proportions in recent years and has lead to the incredibly fast development of this cosmopolitan city-state.

2. Clarke Quay

What began as a historical riverside quay has become a delightful development packed full of bustling neon bars and upscale restaurants, boutique shops and pumping nightclubs. As one of must see things to do in Singapore, the Clarke Quay attracts a steady stream of tourists alongside Singapore’s party animals.

3. Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest observation wheel (or Ferris wheel). Built over a three-story terminal building with a capacity for 784 people, the Flyer is 165 meters high – some 30 meters taller than the famous London Eye – with breathtaking panorama views. This is a one-of-a-kind experience.

4. Sentosa

This is one of the most unique things to do in Singapore. This lush purpose built island off the southern tip of Singapore, this ‘State of Fun,’ was built with leisure and relaxation in mind. Sentosa is made up of a collection of natural beaches, coastal and cycling trails, theme parks, conservation points, shopping districts, fine dining and more are all available on this strip of reclaimed land.

5. Little India

Look for the business signs written mostly in Tamil and transport yourself to India while staying in Singapore. Little India is a colorful and exciting area located east of the Singapore River, north of Kampong Glam. An oasis amidst more modern surroundings, visitors will know they have arrived at the right place by the exotic aromas drifting out from family kitchens and restaurants. There are a number of colorful temples and streets selling all kind of Indian items.

6. Gardens by the Bay

The Gardens is a sprawling 100-hectare natural park immediately recognizable from its 25-meter Supertree Grove centerpiece. The three waterfront gardens are part of the city’s transformative plans to convert the ‘Garden City’ to a ‘City in a Garden.’ This stunning take on a greener city includes The Flower Dome – the world’s largest greenhouse – and the Cloud Forest; a veritable rainforest of lush tropical greenery fed by the world’s largest indoor waterfall.

7. Chinatown

Down the twisting turning lanes, the smell of exotic herbs and spices wafting in the air and endless food has made Singapore’s Chinatown the ethnic enclave in the city to visit. Among the shops and crowded streets, there is a rich cultural and historical heritage here going back some 200 years. Chinatown also never seems to sleep and no sooner has the sun gone down when new aromas are created and the endless night markets open for business.

8. Orchard Road

From a fruit and vegetable merchants’ street, Orchard Road has now become a shopper’s paradise. For those in need of some retail therapy, a wander brings you through a district of Eastern architecture, replica pagodas, shops of collectibles, fine whiskeys and well-known labels. Indulge in epicurean madness with first class gourmand dining and an array of global cuisines. All the while enjoying some of the best bars the city has to offer.

9. Universal Studios

Certainly a one-of-a-kind experience in Asia, the renowned American theme park has been transplanted right into the heart of Singapore on Sentosa Island. Universal Studios caters to both child and adult a like with 28 rides and all the shows and attractions for kids; the park also includes cafes, bars, restaurants and live performances to keep adults equally amused.

10. Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park

The Singapore Zoo, or Mandai Zoo, has tried to redevelop the typical zoo experience by using its 28 hectares to create a more open and natural zoo for visitors. This includes using the land itself to provide natural water, vegetation and a secondary forest. It is also home to the largest captive colony of endangered orangutans in the world.

Jurong Bird Park is an intricately laid out bird sanctuary home to over 400 species of birds situated at the highest point of the Jurong region. There, you will listen to the calls of the wild like you’ve never before experienced and allow yourself to be transported to a world of toucans, turacos, owls and macaws, all splashed in their bright jungle colors.

Go to Bhutan now! We don’t believe it is really going to stay this way for long. And it really is unique right now. Building laws require that dwellings be built in the traditional fashion and this makes for the most beautiful and original vistas. No one goes to Bhutan for the cuisine.
