Nadia's stories exposed Women atPHOTOS: ANITA SAHI (ANITA), EVA CORSI ON PEXELS (RESTAURANT), EDOCOLEDOCO ON PEXELS (FOOD MARKET), LUCA DI GIOVINE ON UNSPLASH (APOLLO STATUE)us to the essence of the French Riviera. We tasted excellent local wines, handcrafted chocolate almonds, cheeses, gelato, charcuterie, roasted peppers, marinated olives, pissaladire (pizza-like tart), and more. Near the Old Town, we visited Cours Saleya market, where vendors sold cheeses, honey, herbs, the colorful fruits and vegetables of a Mediterranean diet, as well as handmade items like soaps. Near Cours Saleya is the Muse Dufy, dedicated to the art of painter Raoul Dufy, and Palais Lascaris, a grand, 17th-century Baroque palace. While Paris had felt very French, Nice reminded me of Italy. I heard a lot of Italian spoken, Italian restaurants were food market everywhere, and I felt a strong Italian influence. This surprised me at first, but it started to make sense later. I learned that though it was never geographically part of Italy, for five centuries, Nice was ruled by the House of Savoy with deep cultural connections to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, now in Italy. Additionally, Nice is just 15 miles from the Italian border! Castle Hill or Colline du Chteau is an important attraction which overlooks the city. The ruins are easily accessible from central Nice via stairs or the Castle Hill Elevator and offer breathtaking panoramic views of Nice and the Bay of Angels. There are many great spots for beautiful views of Nice city and blue waters, but, Place Massnafor me, the most memorable was watching the sunset from the and Apollo statue rooftop terrace of La Prouse Hotel, which is within Castle Hill at the end of the Promenade des Anglais. enchantingtravels.com/franceENCHANTING TRAVELS\x1a31"
