Sirince is a small village located in Selcuk district, in Turkey’s central Aegean region. This ancient settlement, dating back to 331 BC, is surrounded by olive and peach groves. Traditional houses, made of stone, stucco and wood in the Greek-Turkish style, line the winding cobbled alleys of this car-free hamlet. The 19th-century Church of Saint Dimitrios, with its collection of beautiful frescoes, can be found here. There is also Saint John the Baptist Church, easily identified by the statue of the Virgin Mary. At the local marketplace, the stalls are packed with fresh produce, fragrant spices and olive oil soaps.
