Pera Palace Hotel is located in Istanbul’s historical Pera district. It was opened in 1895 to host the passengers from the Orient Express, a long distance passenger train. Movie stars, writers, and royalty, including Zsa Zsa Gabor, Ernest Hemingway, Alfred Hitchcock and Queen Elizabeth II, have stayed here. This deluxe heritage property offers a range of elegant rooms and suites that are richly decorated. Accessible rooms are also available. Agatha Christie’s favorite place in the hotel was room 411, where she apparently wrote ‘Murder on the Orient Express’. The room is now named after her. You can also dine at the Agatha Restaurant, which serves French, Italian and Turkish cuisine. Enjoy English Afternoon Tea at the Kubbeli Lounge. In the evening, sample one of the signature drinks at The Orient Bar. The Orient Terrace provides stunning views of the Golden Horn. Get a Bali massage at the spa, relax in the Jacuzzi, or take a dip in the indoor pool. The hotel has also converted Room 101 into a museum dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the republic’s first president.
