Venture into the heart of Tahiti, accompanied by a professional guide, on this full-day tour. Discover Polynesian history and lifestyle, and take in the mesmerizing scenery of crystal-clear lagoons, waterfalls and lush forests on your drive along the stunning coast. Begin with a visit to Marae Arahuruhu, an ancient religious site set against a picturesque backdrop, to gain an insight into age-old Polynesian customs, beliefs and traditions. Walk along a neat path to the fern-filled Mara’a Grotto, frequented, it is said, by the Impressionist painter Paul Gaugin. Stop at a black-sand beach to watch the surfers catch waves, before making your way to the Water Gardens of Vaipahi. Meander through this scenic botanical wonderland with 75 plant species from the world over. Hear spiritual legends about the nearby Vaima River. Buy dry fruits and local produce from the open-air stalls on the roadside, or create your own scrubs and creams at a Monoi (infused coconut oil) factory. (Duration: Full Day; Shared Activity & Transfers; Fitness Level: Easy; Entrance Fees & Lunch not included).

Group 4WD Mountain Safari in Tahiti
Discover the natural wonders of Tahiti as you navigate through dense rainforests and cross rivers and mountain streams on this 4WD safari. Stop at Mount Marau for a bird’s-eye view of the lush Punaruu Valley. Your guide points out the valley’s landmarks and narrates their history, legends and myths. Visit the Arahoho Blowhole, created through eons of coastal erosion. When waves crash on the volcanic rocks, a plume of seawater shoots into the air. Watch surfers ride the waves from a black-sand beach nearby. Next, enter the Fa’aurumai Valley where you can find impressive waterfalls and hillsides full of hutu and mape trees. Next, visit Vaimahutu Falls which cascades 30 meters down into a crystal-clear pool. Spot giant ferns and colorful plants on an easy 20-minute rainforest hike from Vaimahutu to the waterfalls of Haamaremare Iti and Haamaremare Rahi. At Haamaremare Rahi, you can take a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters. (Closed on Sundays and public holidays; Duration: Full Day; Shared Activity & Transfers; Fitness Level: Easy; Entrance Fees & Lunch not included; Please wear sturdy walking shoes. Stroll through this immaculate botanical garden, with over 75 species of flowers, plants, trees and a lovely waterfall. Continue onto Venus Point, located on one of the most beautiful black-sand beaches in Tahiti, at Matavai Bay. It is said to be the spot from which Captain Cook made his observations of the transit of Venus across the sun in 1769. Take a scenic drive along the craggy coastline to the spectacular Arahoho Blowhole, created through eons of coastal erosion. You’ll see waves crashing against the cliffs, water rushing into a cavern and shooting out through the hole in the rocks, like a geyser.
