Drive yourself from Reykjavík to Reykjanes / Blue Lagoon in your rental car

Reykjanes is a geothermal peninsula that makes up the southwestern tip of Reykjanesskagi in Iceland. The name of this UNESCO Global Geopark means smoking peninsula’ and the other-worldly landscape is filled with moss covered lava fields, volcanic craters, caves and hot springs. Iceland’s Keflavik International Airport is located in this region, 50 kilometre southwest of Reykjavik. Blue Lagoon is a geothermal Spa fed by steaming hot waters from the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power station. Awarded by the prestigious Blue Flag certification for environmental sustainability for ten consecutive years, explore a massive complex of silvery towers, changing rooms, restaurants, sauna and bar, dotted with hot-pots and steam rooms. Swim in the warm seawater as you soak up the natural beauty of the surroundings and breathe in the crisp, clean air. The complex also houses a hotel, if you’re planning on an overnight visit.
