Ziwa Rhino Safari

Discover the home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda! Just a few hours away from Ugandan capital city Kampala, this non-profit sanctuary was set up in 2005 to re-introduce rhino species to Uganda. A one of its kind sanctuary, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary has more than 22 endangered Southern White rhinos today. Not just rhinos, the sanctuary boasts a myriad of birdlife and animal species. There’s plenty to do at Ziwa including tracking rhinos on foot; in fact, Ziwa is the only place in Uganda where this is possible. You could also explore a host of other options, including shoebill trekking and nature walks. Enjoy leisurely canoe rides as you pass by lazy crocs, hippos and monkeys (from a safe distance!), and guided walks after dark to view the area’s many nocturnal species.
