Nestled on the southern banks of the holy Ganges River, bustling Patna serves a gateway to many a major destination in Eastern India. Centuries ago, Patna was built as the capital of the famous Pataliputra kingdom, following the Buddha’s prophecy about the rise of a grand city. Although much of its past glory has since faded, the city offers a few historic relics such as the nearby ruins of Nalanda – a famous Buddhist monastery and center of learning.
