Ragusa in Italy

Ragusa, a lovely hill town in Sicily, has two distinct characters. While Ragusa Ibla is the historic old town with its plethora of baroque architecture, winding hillside streets and grand central plaza, Ragusa Superiore is its modern urban avatar with museums and malls. A visit to the spectacular Duomo di San Giorgio should definitely be on your list of must-visit sights in the old town. Ragusa Ibla’s central piazza stands prettily in the shadows of the Duomo and a clutch of other equally impressive Baroque structures. The best spot for taking in this Sicilian hill town’s sprawling landscape is perhaps from its exceedingly lovely public park, the Giardino Ibleo. Don’t leave without sitting down to a Sicilian feast at the many traditional trattorias dotting Ragusa.
