Ivory Lodge occupies an ideal position in one of Zimbabwe’s richest wildlife areas where herds of many hundreds of elephant are a common sight. Indeed the waterhole at Ivory Lodge attracts its fair share of regular pachyderm patron, so you don’t necessarily have to venture out to enjoy the game. However, lying within a 6,000 acre conservancy bordering the park, the lodge is able to offer both game drives and bushwalks. Aside from elephant, you will likely see buffalo, lion and leopard, in addition to a wide range of other mammals and birds. A small thatched and wood lodge, Ivory’s six classically-styled rooms are raised high on stilts amongst the teak trees. The elevated en-suite rooms are positioned with sweeping views of the waterhole that is floodlit by night. The thatched central dining area, bar and library are set around the deep blue pool – a welcome haven from the scorching mid-day heat. Safari chefs are experienced in bush cuisine and cater for a variety of dietary requirements. The best is having a fireside dinner under a massive blanket of stars or a private candle lit dinner within the hide itself.
