Your guide will meet you at the Santiago de Chile airport and accompany you to your hotel in a private vehicle

2 Nights

Santiago de Chile

Santiago de Chile is a major metropolis that rests in a valley between the snow-capped Andes rising dramatically to the east and the coastal cordillera rolling gently to the west. Founded in 1541, the city pulses with the rhythms of both colonial and contemporary Chile. You will see ancient churches with weathered stone facades standing beside glass towers in the financial district, and street vendors selling sopaipillas in plazas where protests and celebrations have shaped the nation’s turbulent history. The air carries the scent of empanadas from corner bakeries while street musicians play cueca and cumbia along the sidewalks. On clear days, the Andes appear so close you could reach out and touch them, their peaks turning shades of pink and gold at sunset. Ride a funicular up San Cristóbal hill, where the white statue of the Virgin Mary watches over the sprawling metropolis below. Visit bohemian neighborhoods such as Bellavista which is brimming with colorful murals, book shops and wine bars. From here, you could venture to Valparaíso on the Pacific coast, the vineyards of the Maipo Valley, or the otherworldly landscapes of the Atacama Desert to the north.

Wine Valleys of Chile

Chile’s wine region extends along the length of the country and is known for producing some of the finest wines in the world. Casablanca Valley, tucked between the capital city of Santiago and the Pacific Coast, is home to some of the country’s leading wineries. The cool morning mists and low average temperatures make the valley conducive to growing grape varieties used to produce excellent white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Located close to Santiago, Maipo Valley has hot and dry summers and cold, wet winters that make it ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon varietals. There is also the Colchagua Valley, surrounded by the Andes and Coastal Mountain Ranges. The area is dotted with diverse vineyards and topnotch wineries specializing in Cabernet, Carmenere, Syrah, and Malbec. Nearby, you will find Millahue where the combination of fertile volcanic soil and an arid Mediterranean climate nurture a variety of grapes. In the distinctive wine-producing regions, you could visit the wineries to learn more about viniculture, sample house wines and enjoy leisurely strolls around the lush vineyards.
