Explore the Old Town of Malacca on this guided walk. The UNESCO-listed city of Malacca, or Melaka, is the erstwhile commercial outpost of the Melaka Sultanate. Meet your guide at your hotel and set out across the river from Dutch Square. Pass by the historic longhouses of Heeren Street, with their Dutch and Peranakan architectural influences. Stroll through Jonker Walk, renamed Jalan Hang Jebat, which is teeming with antique shops and stalls selling local delicacies. Alternatively, you could visit the Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum for a peek into unique Peranakan traditions. See goldleaf covered carved woodwork, embroidered panels and marble furniture. Then, pass shops displaying colorful beaded slippers, kebaya tops and batik sarongs, as you make your way to Harmony Street. Here, you’ll find centuries-old Hindu, Muslim and Chinese places of worship coexisting peacefully. Discover Kuala Lumpur’s rich history on this guided tour. Start with a visit to the National Mosque (Masjid Negara), with its modern construction and umbrella-shaped roof. Explore landmarks of Penang during this enjoyable tour. First, drive to the suburbs of George Town to visit Kek Lok Si Temple, the country’s largest Buddhist temple. Get a look at the massive bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy located on the highest point of the property. See the seven-story pagoda, which has over 10,000 bronze and alabaster statues of Buddha. The design of this pagoda is a blend of three architectural styles – Chinese, Thai, and Burmese. Afterwards, make your way to Penang Hill to ride the funicular to the summit.
