Located on the river’s banks, explore Zambezi National Park; Matetsi, home to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, giraffe and zebra, hippo, crocodile and iridescent birds such as bee-eaters, storks, herons, kingfisher and, fish eagles.

Elephant Encounter in the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary and Orphanage

Get to know Africa’s gentle giants at the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary and Orphanage, nestled by the Masuwe River near Victoria Falls. Meet your local guide at your Victoria Falls hotel before driving down to the elephant sanctuary. Settle down in a thatched boma, and learn all about the sanctuary and its various activities, including the conservation efforts. Zambezi National Park

Zambezi National Park adjoins the town of Victoria Falls. The park is spread over about 54,000 hectares and is one of the smallest national parks in Zimbabwe. Visitors can experience Victoria Falls and go on game drives and guided walking tours, as well as canoeing trips on the mighty Zambezi River. The park has an amazing array of wildlife like lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, impalas, and zebras that stay close to the river during the dry season. In addition, herds of sable antelope, giraffe, eland, kudu, and smaller species of game can also be seen. The river is home to hippos, waterbuck, crocodiles and over 75 species of fish like fighting tiger fish and bream.

The park also has a wide variety of birdlife throughout the year, and numbers increase when migratory birds come to breed in the green season. Upstream along the Zambezi River Drive are numbered sites, where you can set up a picnic under shady trees.

Enjoy thrilling game drives at Imbabala Lodge in Zimbabwe. Set on the banks of the Zambezi River in a private National Parks concession in Zimbabwe, the lodge offers fantastic opportunities to see iconic animals, from carnivores such as lion and the elusive wild dog to herbivores such as giraffe, kudu and herds of elephant that can go up to a thousand strong. Take your pick of morning, afternoon, or night drives in an open 4×4 vehicle. All game drives are led by an experienced guide. Depending on the drive, enjoy a morning cup of tea or coffee with snacks or evening drinks with snacks. Imbabala is also an excellent location for bird watching. In addition to the game drives, you can set out on the Zambezi River in a pontoon boat either in the morning or afternoon. Spot myriad waterbirds from the deck and keep an eye out for hippos and swimming elephants. Have your camera ready to capture the stunning sunset over the water. Start your day with a beautiful early morning game drive through the Zambezi National Park, home to some of Africa’s most iconic animals. Huge herds of elephant roam the park, and you have the chance to see buffalo, lions, giraffe and different species of antelope. To get closer to the land and the animals, try a game walk, which is offered on the mainland for those 16 years and older. The walk removes the barrier of a vehicle between you and the natural environment, making it a much more immersive experience. Spend the late afternoon cruising down the river while keeping a lookout for animals on the banks, and in the water. Watch a stunning sunset while enjoying a drink and a snack. Enjoy a ride in a two-person canoe, in the company of a guide, also in a canoe. Lunch and dinner are served on the banks of the river, on the way to the landing point. Explore Zimbabwe’s largest game park! Located on the border of Botswana, Hwange National Park amazes you with its sheer size – it covers almost 15,000 square kilometers! The vast park has varied types of scenery – from the semi-arid scrubs near the edge of the Kalahari in the south, to forests, granite hills and valleys of the mopane woodlands in the north. Over 100 species of mammals, including lions, leopards, rhinos and huge herds of elephants, call Hwange home. Best for game viewing during the dry season of August to October, the park offers you day and night drives as well as walking safaris.

Robins Camp is located in a remote north-western region of Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. In-house guides conduct group game drives and walks into the park, to allow you to experience the vast variety of landscapes, flora and fauna. The grasslands and woodlands of the park are home to the Big Five and many other mammals. The park has more than 50,000 elephants, Africa’s largest population of the endangered wild dog, rare species of antelope such as sable, greater kudu, gemsbok and roan. Cheetah, giraffe, leopard, lion, buffalo, wildebeest and zebra are commonly seen in the park. At dawn and dusk, the spotted hyena makes an appearance. You may also encounter black and white rhinos. There are about 500 species of birds for bird lovers to look out for. Take both the early morning and afternoon guided game drives to soak different wildlife experiences. You could also request a guided game walk that extends from an hour to three hours. Strap on your boots and get ready for an exciting early morning journey into the bush on foot. The sooner you set out, the better it is – early morning is the best time to witness the African bush in all its glory. Watch wild surprises unfold right in front of you as meander down the walking trails with an experienced guide. You can also opt for game drives in the morning, afternoon, and evening, or for the full-day, to explore the concession. Watch hippos, zebras, giraffes, elephants and wildebeest move around in their natural habitat from up close. Your guide will provide you with valuable information on the behavior and habits of different animal species. Stop by the watering hole, a favorite gathering spot for animals, for a thrilling close encounter with the Presidential Elephant Herd. Our game drive guides were exceptional in getting us to where the animals were so we could enjoy seeing cheetah cubs at play while mom watched, lion cubs playing while a group of lioness’s napped in the sun and two male lions did the same. The most incredible sight was watching a group of 6 lioness’s separate a female buffalo and her calf and going on to taking them both down. It was like watching a Nat Geo film but we were there within 30 yards to watch. Our accommodations were top notch, staff everywhere we were were exceptional, and the settings were all different but wonderful. Our trip coordinator was in constant contact just to check in and see if there was anything we needed her to do. The Trip Agent App, our first time using it, was a very nice feature and was so much easier to use rather than pulling out a hard copy of the trip to find the answer to our questions. I wasn’t sure if I would use it or not but became dependent on it. Traveling doesn’t get any better if you travel with Enchanting Travels. We will be back!
