Set off on your tour of the myriad neighborhoods in the southern part of this sprawling metropolis from Insurgentes Avenue, the city’s longest street. Pass by the Insurgentes Theater, with its colorful mural, painted by renowned Mexican painter Diego Rivera, which narrates the tale of Mexican stage art. Head over to the tranquil locality of Coyoacan, showcasing the vestiges of its colonial past through its historic mansions and many museums. Stop by the charming Blue House, the residence where famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo lived and died. Explore the house which has now been converted into a museum and showcases her life and works.
