Èze, a seaside village in the Côte d’Azur region, sits atop a hill and offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. The medieval hamlet has narrow cobbled streets that are lined on either side by bougainvillea-clad walls and stone houses. In summer, as you walk through Èze, you cannot escape the lovely fragrance of star jasmine that grows here in abundance. The charming old village with its vaulted passages and squares has boutiques, cafes and art galleries housed in old cellars or stables. Eglise Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, the 18th-century honey-coloured church towering over the village, is hard to miss. While here, visit Jardin botanique d’Èze which is situated at the edge of the village on the site of an ancient fortress.
