Enjoy crystal clear waters! One of the world’s cleanest freshwater lakes and the third largest in Africa, Lake Malawi is dramatic, surrounded by unspoilt beaches, lush forests and spectacular mountains. Considered a top diving destination, the tropical waters are teeming with brightly colored fish species, particularly the 700 species of endemic cichlids, catfish, eels, crabs and otters, as well as interesting rock formations and bottom contours. October is a particularly good month for visibility but you can enjoy snorkelling and diving all year round. The Central Lakeshore is most renowned for its seemingly endless beaches, whereas the Chinteche area in the north is appealing for those seeking remoteness.
