Bolaven Plateau Tours
Lying to the northeast of Champasak into Salavan and Sekong in southern Laos, the fertile Bolaven plateau is an area of highlands between 1,000m and 1,300m, having lots of rain and a relatively fresh climate. Surrounding the plateau there are a number of protected national parks, high-grade coffee plantations, several rivers, remote hill tribes, dense jungle and many dramatic waterfalls. Among the many tribes, the animistic-shamanistic Suay (who call themselves Kui) are said to be the best elephant handlers, while the Alak, Katu and Laven are distinctive for the face tattoos of their women. So, swerve off the beaten tourist trail and enjoy one of the most rewarding experiences on offer in Southern Laos.
