Perez Zeledon is a pretty little bucolic town in the canton of the same name, set in a beautiful green valley surrounded by the highlands. The region is marked by coastal mountain ranges that seem to almost form a bridge between the national capital region of San José and the southern border with Panama. With its verdant highlands and cloud forests, the area is ideal plantation country marked with fragrant coffee plantations and sprawling estancias. It is worth hiking to the nearby Chirripó National Park from this pretty town. The parkland is home to Mount Chirripó, the highest peak in Central America.
