The Eastfjords of Iceland is 75-mile stretch of coastline that extends from Berufjörður in the south to the village of Borgarfjörður Eystri in the north. Covering 8,773 square miles, it is a great place to spend a night or two. Borgarfjörður Eystri is said to be the place where the elves live and is a hiker’s paradise. Beautiful waterfalls such as Litlanesfoss and Hengifoss can be found here. The latter is the third tallest waterfall in Iceland, tumbling down 420 feet. The roughly one-hour trail that leads up to the falls is one of the most popular hiking routes in the area.
