A popular holiday destination, it sits on a promontory on the tip of the peninsula at the country’s westernmost end and is home to a number of scenic beaches, making it an attractive alternative to Bodrum. Two of the more popular towns in the district are Alacati and Cesme town, which are worth visiting from May to October. Alacati is charming and atmospheric, with cobbled streets, traditional stone buildings, and vintage boutiques.
