Vicksburg, Mississippi was originally settled by the Natchez Native Americans and their forebears, before French colonists came to the area. Located on a high bluff on the Eastern bank of the Mississippi, Vicksburg looks out over the Mississippi river delta. It is a city of great beauty and historical significance, with plenty of old buildings in a variety of architectural styles. A blend of the culture and heritage of the American South and modern attractions and sensibilities, Vicksburg has everything from genteel Southern mansions and riverboat cruises to modern casinos, art galleries, upscale dining and luxury shopping. It also has a booming outdoor activities scene, thanks to its location near the confluence of the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers. With plenty of birding, fishing, hiking and hunting opportunities in the surrounding forests and wetlands, there’s an outdoor adventure to suit everyone!
