Clouds Mountain Gorilla

Deep in the misty mountains of South-western Uganda, in a large tract of lush montane rainforest, lies the ‘Clouds’. High up in the clouds on Nteko Ridge, on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, the views are breathtaking. In the shadow of three volcanoes, looking down into the thick treetop canopy of Bwindi and beyond to the golden grasses of the Western Rift Valley, guests at ‘Clouds’ will feel on top of the world. Constructed with the ultimate goal of protecting the natural habitat of the mountain gorilla, ‘Clouds’ directly benefits the community of Nkuringo who also have a significant stake in the venture. With exclusive rights to gorilla permits, Clouds is built to cater to those who track the Nkuringo group of gorillas, situated on the other side of Bwindi. Guests are able to walk from their cottage to the starting point of the trek. Better still, they won’t have a long journey at the end of their day gorilla tracking. The lodge has ten stone cottages, fireplaces, soft armchairs, warm duvets, excellent meals made from local produce, good wine, a lush botanical garden, cosy library and sheltered verandas with views to the volcanoes. Furthermore, enjoy mountain biking along the ridge, walks in the forest reserve or a visit to the local community village.
