A 1787 waterfront warehouse gives Admiral Hotel its unmistakable character, with massive timber beams, original brickwork and harbor views preserving a tangible connection to Copenhagen’s maritime past.
What Makes It Special
A landmark 1912 post office building sets the stage for Villa Copenhagen’s distinctive take on conscious luxury. Here historic architecture, contemporary Scandinavian design and a lively social atmosphere come together. The result is a hotel that honors its past while embracing a distinctly modern identity.
Details
Villa Copenhagen occupies the former Central Post & Telegraph Head Office, a Neo-Baroque landmark opened in 1912, beside Copenhagen’s Central Station and close to Tivoli Gardens. Its historic character remains central to the experience, with high ceilings, generous proportions and original architectural details carefully preserved. The Boardroom, largely unchanged since 1912, offers a particularly vivid connection to the building’s past.
Accommodations pair understated Scandinavian design with the character of the historic structure, creating spaces that feel contemporary yet warm. The hotel’s philosophy of conscious luxury extends to its culinary program, with a focus on seasonal, local and homemade ingredients alongside efforts to minimize food waste. Rug Bakery produces artisanal bread and pastries, while the property’s restaurants and bars emphasize ingredient-led cooking and relaxed dining.
The rooftop provides one of Villa Copenhagen’s signature experiences: a 25-meter heated outdoor lap pool, with the temperature maintained year-round using excess energy from the hotel’s cooling systems. A city-view sauna and 24-hour fitness room complete the wellness offering.
Throughout, Villa Copenhagen balances heritage, design, sustainability and contemporary hospitality, creating a polished yet relaxed base from which to experience the city.
