The personal touch here was welcome for our first few days getting climatized! Staff was wonderful and the owner spent lots of time talking to us all, making sure we were well looked after. The food was terrific

Great introduction to Delhi, enjoyed cooking class immensely, and breakfast on the roof, even in the fog!

Our room was on the ground floor , a bit noisy . But the owner s hospitality more than made up for it.

Quaint accommodations located in an upscale part of town but not too much to do if you want to eat outside for dinner. WiFi was good and breakfast was delicious. Too many mosquitos and our room was cold with no option for heater. Shower also designed poorly as water leaked all over the floor. Good hot water. Staff very friendly and helpful...if we could find them in the evening for assistance...during the morning/day no problem finding staff. ... Read More

Is a very lovely guest house. Staff was caring and polite. Location is a bit remote, difficult to find, but quiet. Service very good. Cold on roof in winter (for breakfast). Enchanting could advice traveler to bring jacket!

Great location to begin and end the journey. The team of gentlemen working there were great. The rooms were very clean. Loved the decor and atmosphere. The lounge on each floor was great. Loved dining on the roof.

I would describe Colonels Retreat as a boutique hotel, not B an B. Found it most confusing that one wasn't sure who was in charge, no familiarization or greeting on arrival. Other guests also sat waiting for dinner at a dining table only to be told later that dinner was served on the roof. The concept of this type of accommodation is to my mind preferable to the large impersonal hotel but it has to be well done. ... Read More

A basic, B&B yet family-type and friendly place with a charming owner couple and extremely helpful staff in a quiet, residential area of Delhi. While only breakfast is served, there are a few excellent restaurants in 1-15 minutes walking distance. Maybe I would recommend any other traveller to pay up for a higher quality hotel. ... A truly minor detail, but there should have been more than one hand/bar soap in the bathroom, and too much food was prepared for our evening meals.

We were especially please when we returned to the hotel after a long drive from Agra to find out that we could order a meal and they would go out, shop for it, cook it and serve it to us on their rooftop patio.

This is the kind of place we really love to experience when we travel - more of a home stay. The owner Arun was on site and gave us great advice; our room was in a quiet part of the building; breakfasts and dinners taken on their rooftop terrace were very very nice. Just a couple notes: the shower did not drain well; the elevator wasn't working for the first day; and the wifi and television signal were in and out. None of these things were significant (all were reported to the staff and were resolved during our staff) but I wanted to mention them as they are probably just a function of this being a smaller hotel. ...
