What Makes It Special
Suspended among the pines of Swedish Lapland, Treehotel turns the forest into an architectural gallery, with a collection of individually designed treerooms created by leading Scandinavian architects and studios. Each structure offers a different interpretation of life among the trees, combining imaginative design with an immersive sense of place. Here, the surrounding wilderness is not simply a backdrop, it is an essential part of the experience.
Details
Treehotel is located in Harads, a small village in the forests of Norrland along the Lule River valley, where dense pine woodland, Arctic light, the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun shape the landscape throughout the year. The treerooms are scattered among the trees, offering secluded spaces immersed in the forest and expansive views across the surrounding valley.
The property’s accommodations are conceived as individual architectural statements. Reflective surfaces, organic forms, suspended walkways and bold silhouettes create structures that seem to merge with or playfully contrast the surrounding woodland. Sustainability is also integral to the concept, with features such as eco-conscious shower systems and incineration toilets, while the Biosphere incorporates more than 340 birdhouses into its facade to support local birdlife.
Arrival begins at the historic Guesthouse, where guests are welcomed before being guided through the forest to their treeroom. The Guesthouse, with its atmosphere inspired by the 1930s through 1950s, houses the restaurant, where seasonal tasting menus showcase ingredients from local producers and the flavors of northern Sweden. Dining can also extend beyond the building, including special meals in the surrounding landscape.
A Forest Spa provides another way to experience the setting, with sauna and relaxation facilities designed to complement time spent outdoors.
