Hotel Ibis
Situated on the main street in Butare’s town centre, the standards of the Belgian owned Hotel Ibis are quite high for its location. The 18 homely double bed rooms are apartments rather than hotel style. The beds are large and the bathrooms have showers with hot water. A separate sitting day bed area back to a private, enclosed patio makes this place good value for money. Its all in African style with heavy wood and colour motifs. The terrace restaurant, open to the main street, provides a fantastic theatre of the street. However, it is restricting as street kids approach the edges and beg but are not allowed to enter the compound so you are safe, but they are not intimidating or pushy. Then once that passes you become the theatre for them. The ambience is nice and locals as well as expatriates fill the terrace for dinner and lunch. Category: Simple Hotel
