The Windermere Estate is an exclusive plantation and retreat located at the confluence of three rivers in Munnar. Stay in cozy farmhouse-style cottages and villas and watch beautiful sunrises over the rolling hills from your balcony. Enjoy the comfort of king-sized beds and the luxury of opulent accessories. Take leisurely strolls to a strategic viewpoint were you can enjoy stunning views of your surroundings. Enjoy excursions to the plantation, pick up a pair of binocular to observe exotic birds, or borrow a book from thel ibrary. Afternoons can be spent lazing in hammocks. While the resort offers European and Asian cuisine, traditional Malayali dishes are served at The Barn or The Hut – and come highly recommended.

The area is absolutely gorgeous and we are so glad that we visited munnar...this property was OK. the 'guided nature walk' was just a walk, with no real information shared, etc. the limited menu offerings at dinner was tough, although they were very attentive to allergies

We really enjoyed staying here. Accommodations excellent, we very much enjoyed the cooking demonstration, free coffee/snacks, walk through coffee + cardamom gardens, fire during dinner to mention some.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. However, it was a distance from the town and therefore, there were no options for meals. At the Windermere, they were set meals and we were not aware of the price until we checked out. This should be clarified when the details of the itinerary are set. They did ask about dietary preference and I stated that I did not like dairy, yet two of the dishes contained dairy. Not sure why they asked. Also they offered a nature walk which we accepted but the guide did not talk. We wished we had stayed in town and done a walk around there with our guide. ... Read More

Great location and wonderful setting. The remoteness of the hotel didn't give you the option of going anywhere but the hotel for dinner. I felt this should have been included as part of the stay like the house boat.

The setting was wonderful. They do need to address some upkeep areas, The safe didn't work. The Water pot in the room didn't work. The people were very friendly.

What a fantastic place in all respects. The service was outstanding and the food the best during our previous 3 weeks. What a creativity in the choice, flavors and colors of the Kerala dishes! The building with restaurant (called "The Barn") and library (for quiet reading and free wifi...) have a warm, peaceful atmosphere with its wooden beam structures. Other highlights: the 36° viewpoint, the new modern swimming pool, the free afternoon tea/coffee/cake and the guided, most interesting walk through Windermere's own cardamom plantation. The accommodation in twin cottages was comfortable and very spacious. ... Read More

Be sure to take the one and a half hour walk through the cardoman plantation and then relax in the calm on a hammock far above the heat and haze of the coast.
