Pedal & Paddle Adventure – Chiang Mai
Discover a verdant natural paradise on your Thailand trip! Prepare for an exciting day of kayaking and cycling at Sri Lanna National Park, just an hour away from Chiang Mai. Begin your adventure with a bicycle ride along beautiful rural roads. Pass through lush green landscapes, bamboo and fern groves, orchards, and rice paddies. After about 20 kilometers of cycling, disembark at Mae Ngat Lake Reservoir, where kayaks will be waiting for you. Enjoy some leisurely paddling before you break for a delicious Lanna lunch served at the floating bamboo raft house on the lake. In the afternoon, choose between exploring the lake on your kayak and swimming, or simply settle down on the secluded shore for a spot of sunbathing. In the evening, pack up and return to Chiang Mai. Explore the wonders of Chiang Mai by foot! Begin your walking tour of this charismatic city at the banks of Mae Ping River. At Warorot Market, you will be greeted by excited locals hunting for exotic culinary delights, colorful fruits and spices, and a variety of household staples. Walk down to the historic Tapae Gate and the Three Kings Monuments, before visiting Wat Chiang Man, which is the oldest temple in the region. Take a fortifying lunch break at a local restaurant, sampling local delicacies. Afterwards, drive up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, an iconic temple site in Northern Thailand. The climb up the famous Naga staircase offers spectacular photo opportunities of the city spread out below in all its glory. At the top, admire the enormous temple gong and unending row of temple bells. Try out deep fried pancakes, noodle soup bowls, rice noodles with curry (kanom jeen), Thai coconut pudding (kanom krok), and the heavenly sweet mango with sticky rice. If you feel adventurous enough, you could also try the local rice whisky. Visit the nearby night market after a satisfying food walk. Revel in the attractive variety, textures and colors on offer at the local bazaar. Walk through the bustling bylanes, admiring the traditional textiles and local artefacts on display. After an enjoyable evening of retail therapy, drive back to your hotel.
