Cairo
Cairo, the capital of Egypt, stands by the River Nile with centuries of history and culture behind it. The city lovingly holds within itself the glorious civilization of ancient Egypt, the medieval era of high Islamic culture as well as the bygone glamor of its 19th century colonial history. While the city’s beauty may not be immediately apparent amid its dusty lanes (thanks to the Sahara Desert next door), once you set off to discover Cairo, you will encounter priceless gems like the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx standing guard before it. Visit the Egyptian Museum, which holds the Gold Mask of King Tutankhamun, walk past Tahrir Square, the city’s Fatimid and Mamluk monuments, and streets like the Sharia Al Muizz Li Din Allah. Browse through popular marketplaces like Khan Al Khalili, climb the Cairo Tower for a panoramic view, and listen to the rising crescendo of the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer from the minarets towering over the city.

Built in 2560 BC, the UNESCO-listed Great Pyramid is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Then, get up close to the gigantic Sphinx, one of Egypt’s most famous landmarks. Abu Simbel
Abu Simbel is a serene little Nubian village by the Nile River near Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser, not far from the border with Sudan. Thanks to its world famous rock temples, most travelers drop by the village on their cruise trips to Luxor or Aswan. This out of the way destination holds a charm of its own, if one is willing to give it some time. The colossal Abu Simbel temples comprise the Temple of Hathor and the Great Temple of Ramses II. This ancient monument dedicated to Ramesses II was relocated to its present site to escape the flood plains when the Aswan Dam was built in the 1960s. The temple visit aside, what is more pleasantly surprising for most travelers is the beautiful cerulean blue view of Lake Nasser surrounding this ancient structure. This lovely view over the lake can often be enjoyed from aboard the cruise boats as well.
Included activities
Sound and light Show at Abu Simbel Temple
Watch the sound and light show in the Nubian village of Abu Simbel and immerse yourself in its rich history. As you take your seats at the main temple, on the banks of Lake Nasser, you will observe the façade dominated by four colossi of Ramesses II. Be mesmerized by projections that show intricate hieroglyphics and how the temples once looked. Built by Ramesses II, more than 3,000 years ago, the twin temples are splendid examples of ancient Egyptian art. While the great temple is dedicated to the gods Amon-Ra and Re-Horakhty, the small temple is dedicated to Nefertari for the worship of goddess Hathor. You will see its exterior adorned with massive statues of the king and his favorite Queen Nefertari. Here, she is depicted as Hathor, the goddess of beauty, with the horns of a cow, a solar disc and two plumes. Watch the illuminated structure and listen to interesting tales before the show winds up. (Duration: 1 hr; Time: 1800/1900/2000 hrs; Shared activity; Private transfers; Entry fees are included; Fitness level: easy; Operates subject to 5 ppl confirmed)

Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is a landlocked salt lake that lies between Jordan to the east and the West Bank and Israel to the west. It is the lowest body of water on the surface of the earth and its shores mark the lowest point on land. Standing at the water’s edge, you’ll notice the rocks and sand shimmering because of crystalized sodium chloride. The water here is 10 times saltier than the ocean, making it too salty for life. Therefore it is alternatively known as the Sea of Death, Salt Sea, and Sea of Lot. The salt does have its benefits though, transforming these waters into a natural spa. The dark brown mineral rich mud is great for skin ailments. It is believed that the minerals here were even used by the ancient Egyptians for mummification. The salt also makes the water so buoyant; you can float effortlessly on the surface while gazing at the mountains and mesas of Jordan.

On the way, explore the temples of Kom Ombo, the temple of Edfu and the temple complex of Karnak on guided shore excursions.
From Luxor, a short flight will take you straight to the heart of Jordan. Amman, its bustling capital city is a heady mix of historic sites and vibrant, modern culture. This quintessential Middle Eastern capital has plenty to offer travelers, including a wonderful souk, Roman ruins and bohemian chic flair, which you can experience on guided day and night tours. Next, two more UNESCO-listed sites are yours to explore: the rose-hued rock-carved city of Petra, which featured prominently on the ancient Silk Route, and the red desert landscape of Wadi Rum, a favorite backdrop for many Hollywood films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars. Enjoy hiking with your personal Bedouin guide in Wadi Rum, learning more about traditional Bedouin culture and the region. At the end of your trip, spend some downtime at not one but two beaches.

Amman
Amman is one of the best cities to enjoy a really diverse Middle East experience before exploring the rest of Jordan. The best way to explore this fascinating city is on foot. Nestled at the bottom of the city’s many hills and the majestic Citadel, Downtown Amman is a must-see. It features a spectacular Roman theater, an international museum of contemporary art and a number of mosques, architecture, souqs (typical markets) and vibrant coffee houses that are central to Jordanian life. The backstreets of the city are filled with colorful local food markets and tiny shops selling different kinds of handmade crafts. You could also step out and explore the creative mosaic street art of Rainbow Street and stop by its bustling cafes and restaurants. The western part of Amman has leafy residential districts, cafes, bars, modern malls and art galleries, while in the east of the city, you can delve deeper into the capital’s rich traditions and history.
