Cusco

Cusco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an amazing amalgam of an Inca capital and colonial city. Situated at 3,400 m above sea level, fertile river-fed valley, Cuzco was developed in the 1400s under the Inca ruler Pachacutec into a complex urban centre. The Spanish added baroque churches and a palace, while emptying the Sun Temple and Golden Gardens of their treasures. Today the city itself is the treasure, preserved for one and all to enjoy.

Visit to Chinchero Town, Maras Salt Mines and Moray Ruins from Cusco

On this full-day privately guided excursion you will visit the beautiful colonial town of Chinchero as well as the spectacular Incan sites of Maras and Moray. Start your morning at the fascinating Maras Salt mines which feature more than 100 small pools fed by a salt-water mountain spring that is interconnected by channels. It still remains in use today by the community and represents an important income for numerous families in the area. Walk up to the vantage viewpoint from where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the salt mines and its surroundings. In the afternoon, you will head along a dirt road towards another typical Andean village called Moray; famed for being an Inca agricultural experimental center. At Chinchero visit a local textile workshops were local alpaca weavers practice their centuries old traditions. Both these ancient sites and your visit to Chinchero, will take your breath away and leave you fascinated by the mysteries of the Incan civilization. Explore Cusco on your own

Set off at a convenient time to explore the continent’s oldest inhabited city on your own. You could begin your discovery of this UNESCO World Heritage site with a visit to the Convent of Santo Domingo. Stroll around the Renaissance building that sits upon the foundation of an important Incan Sun Temple destroyed by Spanish conquerors. Make your way to Pukamuqu Hill for a closer look at the soaring statue of Cristo Blanco or the White Christ. Savor splendid views of the city and its surroundings before you head to the neighborhood of San Blas with its old world charm. Savor lunch at one of the charming cafes and restaurants in the locality. Afterward, saunter around the Inca Museum before you head to the bustling San Pedro Market for a sensory feast. Inca Trail

The glory and mystery of Machu Picchu is best appreciated by following the footsteps of its creators on the famous Inca Trail. The trail undulates through the Peruvian Andes, passing through several ecological strata from high Andean tundra to lush green cloud forests. Along its narrow and often steep paths trekkers are rewarded with experiences of not only the flora and fauna of the Andes, but also several Incan and pre-Incan archaeological sites. On the final day the breathtaking panorama of Machu Picchu is revealed for the first time through the Intipunku ‘Sun Gate’ before descending to marvel at this lost city and its amazing scenery.

Inca Trail: Day 1

You will recieve a briefing for a great trekking experience the night before or during the transfer before the trek starts. The details will be communicated on arrival by our local partner. Set out on the classic Inca trail, trekking with a small group for 4 days to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Marvel at the constantly changing flora as the trek continues higher and enjoy first hand the experience of what explorers must have felt when discovering this incredible site for the first time. Camp for 3 nights in comfortable tents, enjoying hearty meals prepared for you along the way and you’ll be sure to conquer this exhilarating and stunning climb! On the first day you will depart in the early morning by car to ‘Km 82’ where the trek begins. Visit Llactapata and Chilca before heading towards your first camp at Wayllabamba. (Group Activity, Maximum Group Size 16 people, Hike is 27 miles/43km in total, Expedition train on return. Maximum 10kg of luggage. Lunch and Dinner included on Day One. Sleeping Bag Included. In case you would like to hire a porter -with an extra cost-, the porter will carry up to 5kg of luggage).

Inca Trail: Day 2

Passing Yuncachimpa, Warmiwañusca and Runcuracay, cross the Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman’s) pass at 4,200 mts –the highest point of the Inca Trail. Night camp in Pacaymayo. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included).

Inca Trail: Day 3

Trek to Runcuracay and Chaq’icocha, visiting the Sayacmarca archaelogical remains and Phuyupatamarca ruins en route to Wiñay Wayna where you will set up camp for the last night of camping. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

After a short hours walk through the forest you will reach Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) where you will have the most impressive panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at the citadel, take a 3 hour guided tour, and then return to Cusco by train, arriving around 9pm. (Breakfast included on Day Four. Lunch not included)

Personalized Tour: Peruvian Cooking Uncovered

Visit a local market in Cusco learning about the regional produce. Interact with a chef and the local producers in this traditional Andean market, discovering a different element of Cusco’s history. Return to the cooking place for a private culinary lesson, starting with the preparation of the famous Pisco Sour drink and then moving on to entrées and main courses. Interact with the chef at his house where between stories and pictures you will get the most out of this culinary lesson, of course ending with a tasting of the delicacies prepared. Puno lies directly on the banks of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, and is located at 3,800 m above sea level. The native inhabitants of the area Uros live on floating islands in the lake, and welcome visitors. A clear, star-filled sky reflected in the waters of the lake is one of Puno’s most unforgettable pleasures.

Personalized Visit to Andahuaylillas, Raqchi and Pukara

Journey along the Route of the Sun while driving from Cusco to Puno. Weave your way through mountain passes and stop at archaeological sites in little towns along the way. Head south and make a stop at Andahuaylillas. In this Andean town, visit the 16th-century Church of Saint Peter the Apostle of Andahuaylillas, perched on a central square. The interiors of this whitewashed church feature a display of ornate murals, a painted ceiling and gold leaf altar. After, continue to Raqchi, a pre-Hispanic outpost of the Kanchi people, located between three extinct volcanoes along the Urubamba River. Here, the colossal ruins of the Temple of Wiracocha showcase aqueducts, living quarters and underground tombs built using stone and adobe. Next, drive through the La Raya Pass and proceed to the highland hamlet of Pukara. In the Pukara Lithic Museum, browse through the galleries replete with stone sculptures, pottery and artifacts. Finally, make your way to your hotel in Puno city that lies on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Visit to the Uros & Taquile or Amantani Islands in Private

Visit the floating islands of the Uros, located on the glittering waters of Lake Titicaca during this private tour. The Uros first fled from the Incans and then from the Spaniards, seeking refuge in the lake and creating their own islands made out of reeds. Discover how they adapted to living in the lake and then visit either Taquile or Amantaní islands which offer stunning views of the lake and are inhabited by a small, isolated indigenous group who offer a warm welcome into their simple homes.
