Discover South Africa’s beating heart! Johannesburg, or Jo’burg’ is a dynamic, cosmopolitan city with great places to eat and interesting sites to visit. The city has played a Jekyll and Hyde role in global consciousness, highlighting both ups and downs of 21st century South Africa. A guided tour of Soweto (the Southwest Townships) offers a glimpse of history and daily life, whilst the Apartheid Museum pays tribute to South Africa’s recent poignant past. Powerful monuments, a musical variety from sophisticated jazz to urban kwaito, and a fusion of flavors in the shebeens of Soweto to the upmarket bistros of Rosebank and Sandton all await you.

Private Half day City Tour in Johannesburg

Set off from your hotel for the central business district of Johannesburg, which is also known as the ‘City of Gold’. Marvel at the innovative manner in which art is being channelized to bring about an urban revival. Keep an eye out for the stunning works of public art created by famous masters as well as lesser-known artists. Try to spot all 560 of the carved wooden heads that can be seen across Newton Precinct. You will also notice the Banner of Hope steel structure that features the colors of the South African flag and is situated right in front of the Sci-Bono Discovery Center. Later, explore Museum Africa before you head on to the Carlton Center, which is the tallest building in the region. On reaching the 50th floor of the building you can enjoy a stunning bird’s eye view of Johannesburg city. After you descend from this exciting viewpoint, you’ll drive past landmarks such as the Supreme Court, the Magistrate’s Court, and City Hall. Your tour is complete with an informative visit to Constitution Hill. Narrating the story of South Africa’s journey to democracy, this living museum stands on the site of a former prison and military fort, which is also home to the nation’s Constitutional Court. Find the Big Five! The Eastern Cape Game Parks around Port Elizabeth are malaria-free safari destinations and are therefore ideal for families. The diverse landscape ranges from the dry, desolate Great Karoo to the lush Wild Coast. Witness elephants at the Addo Elephant National Park! Drawn to watering holes at certain times, sightings are virtually guaranteed all year round. Other animals in the park include lion, leopard, black rhino, buffalo, zebra, warthog and antelope. In addition to Addo, there are a number of excellent private game reserves in the area including Kariega, Amakhala, Shamwari, Samara and Kwandwe, where you can enjoy very exclusive safari experiences.

Unearth the secrets of the Eastern Cape with an exciting game drive from the Amakhala Bush Lodge. Set out from the lodge in an open Land Rover with an experienced Ranger to discover Amakhala Game Reserve. Bounding over dirt tracks, venture deep into the heart of the dramatic landscape punctuated by a diverse range of flora, from bushveld to savannah. Beautifully scenic, this vast expanse is home not only to the big five but also elusive creatures such as hyenas and foxes. Not just animals, there are plenty of birds and insects for you to see as well, which your guide will happily point out to you. As you travel, learn about the habitat and the antics specific animals that have been lovingly named by local rangers and guides. Kariega Settlers Drift: Game drives, Bush Walks, Boat Cruise

Experience morning and afternoon game drives and bush walks during your stay at Arathusa Safari Lodge. From the comfort of a specially designed game-viewing vehicle, see the Big Five. In areas with thick vegetation, you’ll come across leopards, elephants and giraffes, while lions are found camouflaged amid golden colored grasslands. You may even spot the elusive cheetah and warthogs. On night drives, keep your eyes peeled for nocturnal creatures such as the civet and porcupine. Located along the Botswana border and 20 kilometres from Gaborone, the reserve lies within a transition region between Lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld and is is host to an incredible diversity of species from both these ecosystems. The landscape inspire you with its unique mixture of vast plains of open grasslands and woodlands with rugged mountain ranges and rocky hills.
