Eduardo Avaroa Reserve

Eduardo Avaroa Reserve lies in the desert of southern Bolivia, close to its border with Chile. The rugged landscape of this remote region is dotted with dramatic rock formations, active volcanoes, and hot springs. Accessed via bumpy mountain roads, the reserve is located at an altitude of 13,800 feet. It encompasses the Laguna Colorada National Wildlife Sanctuary, archeological sites, and an abundance of geysers and fumaroles. Other highlights here are Laguna Colorada where the water changes colors depending on time of day, and the standalone Arbol de Piedra rock formation that resembles a stunted tree. The area is home to a diverse population of flora and fauna including three endemic species of flamingos, vicuna, and the velvety yareta plant. Set off from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile towards Bolivia on this desert adventure. Uyuni Salt Flat Experience

Exploration of Ollantaytambo Ruins

Embark on this fascinating private exploration of the ancient Inca town of Ollantaytambo. Set at an altitude of 9,160 feet (2,792 m), this quaint town sits tucked amid soaring mountains and spectacular ruins. Saunter around the meticulously laid out town with an efficient irrigation system put in place by the expert architects, masons, and craftsmen of the Inca Empire. Re-entry to Machu Picchu with Wayna Picchu Climb

If you are physically fit and want a postcard view of the citadel of Machu Picchu, then be among the first in the morning at the gate of Machu Picchu as you explore on your own the mountain opposite the ruins, Wayna Picchu. The trail is steep but worthwhile with great birds-eye views of the lost city and the surrounding peaks of the Andes. Because of the narrow trail and popular demand, there are only two timings allowed for the climb which must be booked in advance. Please let your travel consultant know if you’d rather do the climb from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. or 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. We recommend rising early to get the best views before the heat and the crowds arrive! After the exertion of Wayna Picchu take a second day to explore the famous ruins of Machu Picchu. While here, explore the Perito Moreno glacier and the ‘massif’ surrounding it from close quarters with trained and experienced personnel, and marvel at the sight of ice floes breaking off from the glacier and floating past you.

Tantalize your taste buds with an Argentinian asado, or barbecue. At the scheduled time, you will be driven to the home in El Calafate where the asado will take place. Once you reach, your host will welcome you and prepare your meal. Learn about the different grilling methods as you watch them cook. Traditional local meats and vegetables will be made on the ‘parrilla’, or Argentinian grill, or it might be made ‘al disco’, which is fried and then stewed. Another method is ‘a las brasas’ that uses red hot embers. Once the food is ready, sit around the fire with your host and fellow guests, and tuck into a delicious feast. Enjoy wine or another beverage of your choice with your meal. Make sure to leave some room for dessert.
