Hveragerði, often called the ‘Hot Spring Town’ emerging from lofty lava fields, is known for its excellent thermal springs and fantastic restaurant scene! The ‘Steam Valley’ region of Hveragerði is an easily accessible and incredibly popular place for hot spring bathing, hiking, horseback riding, and berry-picking. The hiking trails wind around lush, scenic hills dotted with fumaroles and mud pits along with flowers in full bloom. The Hveragerdi Geothermal Park, a highlight attraction, lets you enjoy a natural clay foot bath and sample the famous local black bread baked with heat from the ground. Begin your exploration at the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park. Travel on to the Haukadalur valley where you can explore the geothermal area that is home to the largely dormant Great Geysir and the intensely active Strokkur Geysir. Vik

Vik is the southernmost town on the Icelandic mainland and sits by the sea with dramatic cliffs making for an impressive backdrop. A popular stop along the South Coast route, this charming village offers a range of experiences and activities. While the cliffs are a birdwatcher’s paradise, its beautiful black basalt beach holds the promise of a memorable afternoon. Vik’s iconic, red-roofed church is a favorite with photographers seeking to capture the essence of the quaint settlement. Hike along the winding lengths made by the Fjaðrá river and take in the windswept, rugged expanse stretching to the horizon.
