Introducing Northern Europe: A New Chapter in Luxury Custom Travel

Last updated 10/14/26

There is a genuine, welcoming warmth in the far north that meets you the moment you arrive. It is standing beside a Norwegian fjord as midnight holds the last golden light of day, or sharing home-baked pastries with a local host in Copenhagen with a kindred feeling of connection. Today, Enchanting Travels extends its luxury custom travel design to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. We craft each journey around you, taking care of every detail behind the scenes so you can focus entirely on the people you travel beside and the beauty around you.

Heading North

The north answers three wishes many travelers share right now. Some want long, cool summer days while southern Europe swelters. Some want a slower pace, fewer crowds, an evening with nothing planned but the view. And some want the edge of the map, the Arctic places where the sky itself becomes the reason to go. Northern Europe offers all three, often within the same journey.

There is a mythic quality to how life moves across these higher latitudes. Here, light itself becomes the main protagonist, swinging from endless midsummer twilights over Tromsø to winter skies ignited by the aurora.

Nordic hospitality forgoes grand marble lobbies in favor of pale pine, radiant warmth beneath your feet, and floor-to-ceiling glass that turns the surrounding forest into living art. In Finland, the wood-fired sauna is less an amenity and more a sacred daily ritual of restoration. Because Scandinavian architecture favors intimate, sanctuary-like spaces over formal excess, your Travel Consultant personally curates the exact boutique retreats and high-design lodges that align with your individual idea of comfort.

Norwegian Fjords

In the steep cliffs of the Geirangerfjord, the Seven Sisters waterfall cascades down the rock face directly across from the Suitor waterfall, whose split stream forms the shape of a liquor bottle in an eternal toast to them. You start in Oslo by walking right onto the roof of the Opera House, then head through the Art Nouveau streets of Ålesund toward Geiranger, Flåm, and Bergen. Along the way, you pull into a family orchard in the fjord valleys to sip award-winning craft cider pressed straight from their own trees.

Essential Scandinavia by Rail

You watch the landscape shift outside your train window as you travel from Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo high up onto the Hardangervidda, Europe’s vastest high-mountain plateau. At Myrdal, hop on the Flåm Railway to roll down steep mountain gorges, stopping close enough to Kjosfossen to feel the cool spray of the waterfall on your face. In Bergen, stroll the wooden storefronts of UNESCO-listed Bryggen before taking a boat out to an island restaurant where the chef writes the menu each evening based on the day’s catch and weather.

Scandinavian Summer Capitals

June in Scandinavia brings nightless skies, giving Stockholm over eighteen hours of sunlight a day. You can spend the afternoon cycling through Djurgården, the world’s first National City Park, before stopping for a fresh garden lunch inside the glasshouses at Rosendals Trädgård. After exploring Copenhagen and Oslo, drive out into the countryside to Kistefos Museum, where The Twist—an architectural gallery designed by Bjarke Ingels Group—spans the Randselva river like a sculpted silver ribbon floating over the water.

Nordic Capitals

In Copenhagen, step inside a local host’s candlelit home for fresh homemade pastries and an intimate conversation about hygge—the Danish art of present-moment comfort. This journey connects four distinct Nordic powerhouses: Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki. Along the route, pair a scenic kayak paddle through Stockholm’s island-lined urban canals with an unforgettable visit to Helsinki’s iconic Temppeliaukio Church, a world-famous architectural sanctuary excavated directly into ancient granite bedrock.

Winter in Scandinavia

Ride the train through capital cities and across the Arctic Circle, where dramatic mountain railways lead straight down to snow-bound coastal fjords. From November to January, you can stand on deck and watch humpbacks, fin whales, and orcas feeding on massive schools of herring in the dark water. By night, ride with a private guide on a seven-hour hunt for the Northern Lights, tracking clear skies across the border into Finland whenever coastal clouds roll in.

Sweden Winter Highlights

From the gilded mosaic halls of Stockholm’s Nobel banquet and the neighborhood bakeries of Södermalm, fly north to Harads, a Lapland village set deep within boreal forest. You can ride snowmobiles across frozen lakes, spend your nights in architectural treehouses suspended high in the pine canopy, or stay at the floating Arctic Bath hotel frozen right into the ice of the Lule River. Come evening, sit by a crackling fire inside a Sámi host’s lávvu tent as she sings a joik—an ancestral vocal tradition that connects you directly to the land.

Finnish Lapland Winter

In Levi, an expert photographer guide uses more than fifty microclimate spots across the tundra to hunt down the clearest night sky, which you can keep watching from bed inside a heated glass dome. Near Rovaniemi, directly on the Arctic Circle, sit down with a working Sámi herder to hear what life is like on the tundra, then head into a private forest retreat where northern legends—and Santa’s woodland home—come vividly to life.
