Mount Popa, around 60 km from Bagan, is a fascinating destination for a day excursion. This 737 m high extinct volcano housing many stupas and small temples is always bustling with pilgrimages. Also home to the ‘Nats’ or the old spirits of Myanmar, it offers some beautiful panoramic views of the plains from the top.
