Bharatpur Safari
Bharatpur, known as the ‘Eastern Gateway to Rajasthan’, is most famous for being the home of the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park’s lush wetlands shelter more than 370 species of birds, making it a paradise for bird lovers. If you visit during winter, you might spot the rare Siberian crane that migrates here. You will also find animals such as basking pythons, spotted deer, and wild boar. The 18th-century Lohagarh Fort, or Iron Fort, served as the city’s protector when it was the capital of the Jat Kingdom. Next to the fort lies the Bharatpur Palace and Museum, the former royal residence of Bharatpur’s rulers.
