Laos and Savannakhet Tours
The city of Savannakhet in the eponymous Laotian province, is certainly a beautiful sight to behold! With a population of 120,000, this is the second largest urban settlement in Laos, after Vientiane. Located on the banks of the meandering Mekong river, this city has been an important stopover for traders travelling between Vietnam and Thailand. Numerous French colonial buildings from the 20th century lining the city’s centre, lending an old-world charm to the area. Apart from various excursions, the city is known for the famous Ing Hang Stupa where the Buddha’s bones are reportedly buried.
