Spend some downtime! As the largest city of East Africa, you can experience contemporary urban African life in Nairobi with colorful street markets, authentic African cuisine, and a buzzing nightlife. Discover the National Museum or explore Kenya’s historic roots with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. Feed giraffes in the Giraffe Center or get very close to baby elephants and cheetah in the David Sheldrick Center and animal orphanage. On Nairobi’s doorstep, enjoy afternoon walks and spectacular sundowners in the Ngong Hills, or head to Nairobi National Park for the the only place in the world to witness wild lions against the backdrop of skyscrapers.

A place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers! Samburu National Reserve lies on the fringes of the vast, arid desert, once known as the Northern Frontier District. It’s a great place to witness large herds of elephant, who roam the hills during the day before returning to bathe on the riverbanks in the evening. Samburu National Reserve also provides one of the few sanctuaries in Kenya for the rare northern specialist species such as the endangered Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx. Enjoy wonderful game drives and, outside the national reserve, walking safaris and visits to remote villages of the Samburu people.
Drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy (3-4 hrs)

Laikipia – Ol Pejeta/Solio
Ol Pejeta is a private wildlife conservancy, situated between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya, and has one of the highest density of wildlife in Kenya and boasts an astounding variety of animals, including the “Big Five“. It offers very diverse safari activities, with day and night game drives, guided bush walks and camel riding safaris across its game-rich plains. The neighboring chimpanzee sanctuary is worth a visit for those who have an interest in our closest relatives. Ol Pejeta is also a good base for exploring the Aberdares, Mt Kenya and Solio Game Reserve. Solio is a private wildlife conservancy, situated between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya, and home to over 70 Black and more than 150 White Rhino, as well as buffalo, zebra, giraffe and plains game such as Eland, Oryx, impala, waterbuck, gazelle and warthog.

Refreshing natural beauty! Fringed by thick papyrus, Lake Naivasha attracts amazing wildlife. Giraffes wander among acacia trees, buffalo wallow in swamps, Colobus monkeys call from treetops and hippo sleep in the shallows. An excellent birding destination with the haunting call of a Fish Eagle, enjoy boat rides by day and stunning sunsets by night. Go hiking, biking or rock climbing in Hell’s Gate National Park, named for its pair of massive red-tinged cliffs that frame the parks bubbling hot springs. Discover Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the white rhino, leopard, cheetah and Beisa oryx, or enjoy East Africa’s best day hike along Longonot Mountain’s crater rim.

Classic Africa!
