Kauai, Hawaii’s northernmost island, is studded with rainforests, rivers and waterfalls. Besides exceptional natural beauty, this island offers a variety of outdoor activities. Explore the Wailua River by kayak or outrigger canoe. Paddle your way to the Opaekaa and Wailua Falls, or sail on an open-air boat to Fern Grotto, a natural lava cave. Poipu Beach with its open bay attracts swimmers, snorkelers and surfers. Monk seals appear in the crystal-clear waters, and humpback whales can be spotted in winter months. At Kokee State Park spot unique birds like iwi, moa and apapane and pay a visit to the Kokee Natural History Museum. This park boasts Hawaii’s finest hiking trails, with views of Waimea Canyon. To get a panoramic view of Kauai’s surreal beauty, soar over the dramatic Na Pali Coast by helicopter. Luau, a traditional Hawaiian feast accompanied by a theater performance, makes for a delightful evening out.
