Thailand’s Koh Tao or ‘Turtle Island’, forms part of the Suratthani Archipelago on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Turquoise waters, crystalline coast, golden sandy beaches and isolated bays, make this one of Thailand’s ultimate tropical island retreat. As the name suggests, Koh Tao is an important breeding ground for Hawksbill turtles and Green turtles. Measuring a mere 21 sq km, this tiny island has a little bit of something for every visitor. Hailed as a scuba diving paradise, divers can frolic with underwater delights like rays and sharks, admire amazing neon coral beneath or take diving courses at Koh Tao’s only multi-award winning PADI dive center. Head out on a Robinson Crusoe quest of the beaches around the island, namely Haad Thien (Rocky Bay), Tanote Bay and Sairee Beach.
