Rincón de la Vieja National Park is located about 15 miles northeast of Liberia, the capital of Guanacaste Province in Costa Rica. The park encompasses over 34,000 acres and contains two volcanoes and 32 rivers and streams, making it a biodiversity hotspot. The sheer scale of the park allows you to experience both the Caribbean and Pacific sides of the Cordillera de Guanacaste. The western slope of the volcano that faces the Pacific Ocean offers a great hike in the dry season from February to April. In addition to hiking, you can go swimming, horseback riding and camping in the park. Hiking and horseback riding trails fan out from the Santa Maria ranger station.
