Hella in Iceland

Snaefellsnes Peninsula in west Iceland is known for its dramatic landscapes, comprising sparkling fjords, volcanic peaks, lava fields and stunning beaches. The glacier-capped Snaefellsjokull Volcano dominates this 62-mile-long peninsula.

The Eastfjords of Iceland is 75-mile stretch of coastline that extends from Berufjörður in the south to the village of Borgarfjörður Eystri in the north. Covering 8,773 square miles, it is a great place to spend a night or two. Borgarfjörður Eystri is said to be the place where the elves live and is a hiker’s paradise.

Strandir is one of the most remote parts of Iceland. It is a wild and rugged place that includes low hills and high mountains, and its coastline stretches across the eastern part of the Westfjords.

Borgarfjörður is a stunning fjord in West Iceland, about an hour’s drive from Reykjavík through the Hvalfjarðargögn underwater tunnel. The more scenic route through Hvalfjörður valley takes an additional hour, but the drive is worth the time if you have it.

Discover the picturesque wilderness of Skaftafell in the Öraefi county along the southeastern coast of Iceland. It lies on the popular Ring Road that fringes the island. A year-round destination with campgrounds and diverse natural attractions, Skaftafell is the showstopper of the expansive Vatnajökull National Park.

Selfoss, a charming town in Southern Iceland is a lively cultural hub popular for its outdoor activities, shops and restaurants! Located close to some of the best attractions in the South such as the Golden Circle or the South Coast, you can rent a car and easily drive to these from Selfoss.

Husafell with its fairytale setting is nestled within a valley in the Borgarfjordur region of West Iceland. Tucked between a river and a spectacular lava field, it serves as the gateway to Langjökull glacier. Once a popular venue for outdoor music festivals, this sprawling church, and farm estate is today dotted with vacation homes and campsites. Walking tours are a great way to explore the picturesque surroundings as are biking expeditions.

Tucked away by the Skagafjordur bay in North Iceland lies the scenic village of Varmahlíð. It is surrounded by the woodlands of Reykjarhóll, where clearly marked trails make for invigorating hikes to the top of the hill. On a clear day, the breathtaking views from the summit can extend all the way across the central region of Skagafjörður.

Flúðir is a lovely little village that stands at the foot of the Miðfell Mountain, with the beautiful spring-fed river of Litla-Laxá running through it. The rolling emerald green plains surrounding Flúðir are not too far from Geysir and the popular Gullfoss waterfall.
